What is Executive Functioning?

Watching your child struggle with organization, procrastination, or social emotional regulation can be frustrating and heartbreaking. You know they’re bright and capable—but something’s getting in the way. That “something” is often executive functioning.

Executive functioning challenges can show up as missed assignments, last-minute cramming, emotional outbursts, or difficulty starting tasks. These are not signs of laziness or defiance. They’re signs your child may need support in building the mental skills that help with planning, focus, and self-control.

Executive functions are a set of mental skills that enable you to plan, focus, solve problems, and achieve your goals.

Executive functions are like the "CEO" of your brain. They are responsible for helping you stay on track, think critically, and make wise choices. These skills are essential in various areas of your life, such as school, work, relationships, and personal growth.

Through coaching, I provide your child with tools to navigate school and life with more confidence and structure. I also offer guidance to help you better understand their needs and support them effectively at home—without power struggles.
